What’s your name and what do you do for a living?
I’m Anas, the founder of empathy, an Indonesian brand that uses traditional fabrics to create urban-style fashion.
Why did you start the empathy label?
There’s a variety of traditional fabrics in Indonesia created by local craftsmen, but the younger generation isn’t taking over this work. I don’t want Indonesia to lose this part of our culture, so I transform these traditional fabrics into modern fashion designs.
What do you find most challenging when running a local fashion brand?
Being found by our customers. As a small business, we don’t have a physical store for customers to visit. So our website is how our customers can find us online.
How is Sitebeat helping you grow your fashion business?
Our ecommerce website is a place to tell our brand story, help preserve Indonesia’s fabric craft, and showcase our collection. We grow by reaching new online audiences who appreciate the fusion of modern fashion and cultural heritage.
